The following is a testimony in his own words of my dear friend David Omari from Kenya Africa.
David Omari, I saw God. Ps.23:4
I come from Kenya in a district called Kisii. The district was named after the tribe that dominates the area. So I am a Kisii by tribe, one of the third largest tribe in Kenya.
I got to know Jesus as the Savior of my life through Brother Jim Lucas who preached to me and later baptized me. I became a student to be his discipleship class..
The Elephant Story!
I escaped devil by the mercies of the Lord who kept guard on me. Ps.23:4
After meeting Jim Lucas and Brother Timothy. I wanted them at least to make a visit to my home. I had a wife and five children by then but now we have seven children.
The day Jim Lucas told me that he will visit me, it found when we did not have enough food in the house. So I decided to take up a journey that lasted 8 hrs (on a bicycle) to visit a friend who will help me with some maize to come and prepare meals for up coming visitors.
After arriving I explained my position to my friend I visited. And became it was approaching dark, He friend convinced me to spend that night, so that I could leave the following day with at least a half sack of maize. Of which I agreed.
The maize he was to be giving was lying in the granary which was build on top of the roof of the house. That very night an expected happened, a group of elephant invaded the compound.
Elephants like maize cobs so much. This trip, the elephants were targeting the maize at the granary the compound where I was. And it was the very maize I was for getting. The elephant came and destroyed the roof of the granary and started feasting on maize. The danger was all of these eight elephants were struggling to have a portion of the maize.
I and my friend, we could not come out because the foot of the elephant was right at the main door. It was very close that if it could have happen that the elephants push one another in struggle for maize, they step on the house and the wall could have fallen on us. That could have mark the beginning of the end of me and my friend.
“Manyata” Are those small houses made out of mud, and so short that you must truly bend to get in. So it was going to be very easy for an elephant to smash it.
But God hold the foot of the elephant so strongly that the elephant did not move until they went away after taking all the maize into their bellies.
The following day I had to go back to my house without maize. I was discouraged but I knew God had a lesson to me.
Victory at last.
Arriving home, God had already given my wife victuals by having her debt paid by somebody who own her money.
I was coming home discouraged and very worried of what visitor will eat but my wife welcome me in with rejoicing mood.
At last we had enough to eat with the visitors.
To date I am still doing the disciple making mission.
Glory be to GOD.
